Gastón Institute 30 Years Anniversary Breakfast (MA)

Date:
Thursday, March 12, 2020 - 08:00

The Gastón Institute at UMass Boston is the region’s leading Latino research and public policy institute. Established in 1989 by the Massachusetts state legislature, the Gastón is a freestanding institute dedicated to informing policymakers and the general public about issues affecting Latinx communities throughout New England. The Gastón Institute partners with nonprofits, business leaders, advocacy groups, international scholars, and local, state, and national government agencies to conduct research and projects that address the needs of the diverse Latino population.

On March 12, 2020, we will celebrate the Gastón Institute 30th anniversary, highlight the historical impact of the Institute's work, and look toward our future. The Institute will continue addressing the needs of the diverse Latino population in Massachusetts and empowering the next generation of Latinx leaders. At our 30th Anniversary Breakfast, distinguished alumni from the Gastón's 25 years old Latino Leadership Opportunity Program (LLOP) and the 35 years old Talented and Gifted (TAG) program will also be honored. Boston’s Mayor Marty Walsh will serve as the Honorary Chair and José Massó of WBUR’s Con Salsa will be the event’s MC.
